TIKD
TIKD, a popular new app for fighting traffic tickets, has been under attack by the Florida Bar. TIKD connects customers with lawyers to represent them in traffic court, and charges customers a guaranteed rate lower than the cost of the ticket, which covers the cost of the representation and any fees for tickets that the lawyer is unable to get dismissed.
The Florida Bar v. TIKD
The Florida Bar claims that TIKD is committing the unauthorized practice of law, despite the fact that representation in traffic cases through its platform is provided by lawyers, and despite TIKD never claiming to be a law firm itself. However, the primary motivation behind the bar’s opposition to TIKD is to prevent competition for the state's established traffic law firms.

TIKD v. The Florida Bar
TIKD has filed a federal antitrust suit against the Florida Bar, claiming the Florida Bar is unfairly using its regulatory power in ways prohibited by the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners v. FTC. The United States Department of Justice has filed a brief in support of TIKD’s position.
